A vegetable vendor was caught red-handed by Amruthahalli police in the wee hours of Saturday while he was trying to flee after setting fire to his rival’s vegetable shop in Bhuvneshawari Nagar.
According to the police, the accused, identified as Ashok, a resident of Yelahanka, was caught by the police while he was setting fire to the vegetable shop of his rival Somashekhar, a resident of Jakkur village.
The incident came to light after the night beat police heard a loud thud of the shop’s shutter falling. They rushed to the spot and saw Ashok coming out of the shop with minor burn injuries. They rushed him to nearby Columbia Asia hospital where the accused confessed to committing the crime. The Amruthahalli police have registered a case
