ರಾಮನಗರ: ನಗರದ ಮಾಗಡಿ ರಸ್ತೆಯ ಕೆಂಪೇಗೌಡ ವೃತ್ತದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ರೆಡ್ಡಿ ಸಾ ಮಿಲ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಕಸ್ಮಿಕವಾಗಿ ಉಂಟಾದ ಬೆಂಕಿಗೆ ಲಕ್ಷಾಂತರ ಮೌಲ್ಯದ ಮರ ಮುಟ್ಟುಗಳು ಸುಟ್ಟು ಕರಕಲಾಗಿರುವ ಘಟನೆ ಬುಧವಾರ ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ ನಡೆದಿದೆ.
ಮಿಲ್ಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ, ಕೆಲವೇ ನಿಮಿಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಮರದ ರಾಶಿಗೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಹರಡಿದೆ. ತಕ್ಷಣ ಅಗ್ನಿ ಶಾಮಕ ಠಾಣೆಗೆ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತಾದರೂ ಅಗ್ನಿ ಶಾಮಕ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗಮಿಸುವ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಅವಘಡ ತೀವ್ರ ಸ್ವರೂಪ ತಾಳಿತ್ತು.
ಅಗ್ನಿ ಶಾಮಕ ದಳದ ವಾಹನ ತನ್ನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ನೀರನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಖಾಲಿ ಮಾಡಿ ಬೆಂಕಿಯನ್ನು ನಂದಿಸಿತು. ಆದರೆ ಪುನಃ ಮರ ಮಟ್ಟುಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಹತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡಿತು. ವಾಹನದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರು ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲದ ಕಾರಣ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಅನಾಹುತ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿತು. ಆಗ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಅಗ್ನಿ ಶಾಮಕ ವಾಹನ ಬಂದು ಬೆಂಕಿಯನ್ನು ನಂದಿಸಿತು. ನಗರದ ಮದ್ಯಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಕಿಯ ಹೊಗೆ ದಟ್ಟವಾಗಿ ಹಬ್ಬಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅಲ್ಪ ಕಾಲ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲ ನಾಗರಿಕರು ಆತಂಕಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಗಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಸಾ ಮಿಲ್ ಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಶಾಲೆ ಇದ್ದ ಕಾರಣ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಸಹ ಆತಂಕಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಗಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಐಜೂರು ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೂರು ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅಗ್ನಿ ಅನಾಹುತಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣ ಏನೆಂಬುದಕ್ಕೆ ತನಿಖೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ.

Mysuru... Factors increase likelihood of fires this season
Prolonged monsoon, along with the rapid transition from winter to summer, during the year, has increased chances of forest fires in national parks in the region, especially Nagarahole National Park (NNP).
Extended spells of rainfall, which lasted in parts of NNPand Bandipur Tiger Reserve (BTR) till the last week of December, has created conditions favourable for forest fires. Rains had not only delayed work on firelines, but has also aided the growth of grass in the Park. At the same time, a rapid transition from winter to summer during the month has also made the job difficult, Forest department officials said.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, R Gokul, Director of NNP, said, the rains till the end of December jeopardised the laying of firelines at the reserve. While the Forest department has plans to draw 1,800 kilometre of firelines, works on only 850 kilometer is complete.
By this time, last year, at least 70 per cent of the works on firelines were complete, before a fire broke out at the reserve in the month of March, he said.
"Even though cutting of vegetation along the marked firelines were complete, burning it, to prevent forest fires from spreading, is slowly. While rains hindered the works in the initial phases, now works are being affected by the rapid onset of summer," he said.
With temperatures soaring, efforts to burn vegetation along the firelines too has taken a hit, as there are chances that these preventive fires could fuel a forest fire. Therefore, works have to be taken up with enough precaution, he added.
H C Kantharaju, Director of BTR, said, the works on firelines, measuring 3,200 kilometer inside the reserve, was about 80 per cent complete. Works are being taken up in Moolehole and Kalkere ranges of the reserve. Compared to Nagarahole, rainfall in Bandipur was less, which helped the department to take up works on the fireline.
Wind
Both, temperature and wind speed in the region, is more compared to last year, he said. Wind increases the intensity of a forest fire and has the capability of gutting large tracts of land within a short span of time, he added.
Sources said, the extent of firelines, though huge, was insufficient to curb fires. The source blamed on a dearth of funds. The elaborate firelines in areas which are susceptible to fire cannot help when some vested interests deliberately set large tracts of forest on fire, the source added.

The HAL police have booked a 20-year-old rowdy under Goonda Act after he was arrested for setting 11 vehicles on fire which were parked outside a residential complex in Annasandrapalya in HAL on November 11.
The accused Tufail Ahmed is involved in 17 criminal cases which are pending against him.
He has set fire to the vehicle to take revenge against the building owner. The accused used to smoke ganja behind the building and the owner had objected to it. Enraged by this Tufail had decided to set his vehicle on fire in the midnight, which created panic among the residents, the police said.

ಕಟ್ಟಡ ಕುಸಿತದ ವೇಳೆ ಹಗ್ಗದ ಸಹಾಯದಿಂದ ಗಾಯಾಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೆಳಗಿಳಿಸುವ ಕುರಿತು ಗೃಹ ರಕ್ಷಕದಳದ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಪ್ರಾತಕ್ಷಿಕೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಬಾಂಬ್ ಸ್ಫೋಟ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಾಯಾಳುಗಳ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ, ಪ್ರಥಮ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ, ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ಸಾಗಿಸುವ ಅಣುಕು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಹುಲ್ಲಿನ ಬಣವೆ, ಗೋದಾಮು, ಕಟ್ಟಡಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ರಿವಾಲ್ವಿಂಗ್‌ ಗೇಟ್‌, ಜೆಟ್‌, ಸ್ಪ್ರೇ ಮೂಲಕ ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಂದಿಸುವುದನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಸಣ್ಣ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಂದಿಸಲು ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸಗೊಳಿಸಿರುವ ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ಬೈಕ್ ಕಾರ್ಯವೈಖರಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾತಕ್ಷಿಕೆ ಮೂಲಕ ತೋರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಇಂಡಿ: ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ಇಂಗಳಗಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂಗಳವಾರ ರೈತ ಮಲ್ಲೇಶಪ್ಪ ಚಂದ್ರಾಮ ಬಳಬಟ್ಟಿ ಅವರ ತೋಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳೆದು ನಿಂತಿರುವ ಸುಮಾರು 5 ಎಕರೆ ಕಬ್ಬಿನ ಗದ್ದೆಗೆ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್‌ ಶಾರ್ಟ್‌ ಸರ್ಕಿಟ್‌ನಿಂದ ಬೆಂಕಿ ತಗುಲಿ ಕಬ್ಬು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಸುಟ್ಟು ಕರಕಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಸುದ್ದಿ ತಿಳಿದ ಇಂಡಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಅಗ್ನಿ ಶಾಮಕ ಪಡೆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಕಬ್ಬು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಸುಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗಿತ್ತು.

ವಿಜಯಪುರ: ಅಲ್- ಅಮೀನ್ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಮಹಾ ವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ಡಾ.ಗೋಲೆವಾಲೆ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿ ಜತೆ ಅನುಚಿತವಾಗಿ ವರ್ತಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಶಿಸ್ತು ಕ್ರಮ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಆಗ್ರಹಿಸಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಸೋಮವಾರ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದ್ದ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆ ತೀವ್ರಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಆಡಳಿತ ಮಂಡಳಿ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರನ್ನು ತಾತ್ಕಾಲಿಕವಾಗಿ ಅಮಾನತು ಮಾಡಿದೆ.
ಇದೇ 21ರಂದು ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದಳು ಎಂಬ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿಯೊಬ್ಬಳನ್ನು ಡಾ.ಗೋಲೆವಾಲೆ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತಮ್ಮ ವಸತಿ ಗೃಹದಲ್ಲಿರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ಇದನ್ನು ಕಂಡ ಇತರ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿ ನಡುವೆ ಏನೋ ಸಂಬಂಧವಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಆರೋಪಿಸಿ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆಗಿಳಿದಿದ್ದರು.
ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆ ಮಂಗಳವಾರವೂ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯುವ ಲಕ್ಷಣ ಗೋಚರಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಆಡಳಿತ ಸುವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರನ್ನು ತಾತ್ಕಾಲಿಕವಾಗಿ ಅಮಾನತು ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಡೀನ್‌ ಡಾ.ಬಿ.ಎಸ್.ಪಾಟೀಲ ಕುದರಿಸಾಲೋಡಗಿ ‘ಪ್ರಜಾವಾಣಿ’ಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಇದೇ 26ರಂದು ಅಲ್-ಅಮೀನ್ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟ್ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು, ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಗಳು ಡಾ.ಗೋಲೆವಾಲೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ವಿಚಾರಣೆ ನಡೆಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಆರೋಪ ನಿಜವಾದರೆ ಸೂಕ್ತ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದು ಡೀನ್‌ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಘಟನೆಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಪಡೆಯಲು ಡಾ.ಗೋಲೆವಾಲೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ದೂರವಾಣಿ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಂಪರ್ಕಿಸಿದರೂ ಯಾವುದೇ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಸಿಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.
ವೃದ್ಧೆ ಕೊಲೆ
ವಿಜಯಪುರ ನಗರದ ಪಟೇಲಗಲ್ಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವೃದ್ಧೆ ಕೊಲೆಗೀಡಾದ ಘಟನೆ ಮಂಗಳವಾರ ನಸುಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದಿದೆ.
ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ನಿವಾಸಿ ರಜಾಕ್‌ಬಿ ಪಟೇಲ (90) ಕೊಲೆಗೀಡಾದವರು.
ಹಲ ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಗಂಡನ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಏಕಾಂಗಿ ಜೀವನ ಸಾಗಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ರಜಾಕ್‌ಬಿ ಏಕಾಏಕಿ ಕೊಲೆಗೀಡಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ವೃದ್ಧೆ ತಲೆಗೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯಿಂದ ಬಲವಾಗಿ ಹೊಡೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ತಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗಾಯದ ಗುರುತುಗಳು ಕಂಡು ಬಂದಿದ್ದು, ಕೊಲೆಗೆ ಕಾರಣ ತಿಳಿದು ಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ಗಾಂಧಿಚೌಕ್ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ತನಿಖೆ ಮುಂದುವರಿದಿದೆ.

ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ಇಲಾಖೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರ ಆಕ್ರೋಶ : ಆಕಸ್ಮಿಕ ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಅನಾಹುತವಾದ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದ ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ಇಲಾಖೆಯವರು ವಾಹನದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ಣ ಭರ್ತಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಾರದೇ ಇದುದ್ದರಿಂದ ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಂದಿಸುವ ವೇಳೆ ನೀರು ಖಾಲಿಯಾಯಿತು. ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರಿಗೆ ನೀರಿನ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮಾಡುವಂತೆ ಕೇಳಿದರು ಎಂದು ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರು ಆರೋಪಿಸಿದರು. ಈ ರೀತಿಯ ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ಸೇವೆಯಿಂದ ಯಾವುದೇ ಪ್ರಯೋಜವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟವರು ವಾಹನದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಪೂರ್ಣ ನೀರಿರುವಂತಹ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಆಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದರು.

Mysuru : Chamundi Hills : Nearly 40 acres damaged in fire

A large plume of smoke enveloped Chamundi Hills, and vehicles to and from the hill were diverted. Around 7.30 p.m. the flames were put out and only burning cinders remained.
The ‘ground fire’ is estimated to have caused damage to 40 acres.
Deputy Conservator of Forests Karikalan told The Hindu that it was a man-made fire and contrary to popular perception, there are no natural fires that occur in India.
“We suspect the handiwork of miscreants, who may have set the dry vegetation on fire or carelessly flung a beedi or a cigarette. The other suspected cause is random burning of garbage near the foothills, and the leaping flames may have set the vegetation — which is completely dry — on fire,” he said.
The Forest Department had cleared dry vegetation along 70 km of the fire lines through controlled burning during winter, and this helped contain the fire from spreading to other parts of the hill.
“We have fire lines in concentric circles around Chamundi Hills, and that is why the Nandi statue and the hill top are protected,” Mr. Karikalan added.

ಮೈಸೂರು: ಇಲ್ಲಿಯ ಚಾಮುಂಡಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂಗಳವಾರ ಆಕಸ್ಮಿಕ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಹಲವು ಎಕರೆಗಳಷ್ಟು ಅರಣ್ಯ ಪ್ರದೇಶ ನಾಶವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಮೈಸೂರು ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ಉತ್ತನಹಳ್ಳಿ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಪ್ರದೇಶ ಹಾಗೂ ಲಲಿತಾದ್ರಿಪುರದ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ ೧೨.೩೦ರ ಸುಮಾರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಣ್ಯದ ಹುಲ್ಲುಗಾವಲು ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಕ್ರಮೇಣ ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ವ್ಯಾಪಿಸಿತು. ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಅರಣ್ಯದ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ಮೂರು ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ದಟ್ಟವಾಗಿ ಹೊಗೆಯಾಡುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಇದನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿದ ಚಾಮುಂಡಿಬೆಟ್ಟ ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರು ಮತ್ತು ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಂದಿಸಲು ಹೋದಾಗ, ಅದರ ಕೆನ್ನಾಲಿಗೆ ಎತ್ತರಕ್ಕೆ ಚಿಮ್ಮಿ ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ಆವರಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ಕಾಲ್ಕಿತ್ತರು.
ನಗರದ ವಿವಿಧೆಡೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಅನಾಹುತ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ವಾಹನ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವುದು ತಡವಾಯಿತು. ಕೆಲವರು ಹಸಿರು ಸೊಪ್ಪು ಹಿಡಿದು ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಂದಿಸಲು ಮಾಡಿದ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಯಿತು. ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ದಟ್ಟ ಹೊಗೆ ಆವರಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು ಮತ್ತು ಚಾಮುಂಡಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಗ್ರಾಮ ಸ್ಥರಲ್ಲಿ ಆತಂಕ ಮನೆ ಮಾಡಿತು.
ಚಾಮುಂಡಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ತೆರಳುವ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರು ವಾಹನ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಅನಾಹುತ ನೋಡಲು ಮುಂದಾದರು. ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಗರನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ದೂರ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು. ಮುಂಜಾಗ್ರತಾ ಕ್ರಮವಾಗಿ ಚಾಮುಂಡಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ತೆರಳುವ ಸಾರಿಗೆ ಬಸ್‌ ಮತ್ತು ಖಾಸಗಿ ವಾಹನಗಳ ಸಂಚಾರ ಸ್ಥಗಿತಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಚಾಮುಂಡಿ ಬೆಟ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಪೂಜೆಗೆಂದು ತೆರಳಿ ದ್ದವರನ್ನು ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೆಲ ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇರಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.

ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ 1 ಗಂಟೆ ಸುಮಾರಿಗೆ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಕಾಳ್ಗಿಚ್ಚಿನಿಂದಾಗಿ ಅಪಾರ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ಸಸ್ಯಸಂಪತ್ತು ನಾಶವಾಗಿದೆ. ವಲಯ ಅರಣ್ಯಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ಅಜೀಜ್‌ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಧಾವಿಸಿದ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಂದಿಸಲು ಹರಸಾಹಸ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
ಬಿಸಿಲಿನ ತಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ರಭಸವಾಗಿ ಹೊತ್ತಿ ಉರಿಯಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿತು. ಸಂಜೆ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಇಲಾಖೆ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲೇ ಮೊಕ್ಕಾಂ ಹೂಡಿದ್ದು, ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಂದಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಇದೇ ಅರಣ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ನಾಗರಹಳ್ಳಿ ಸಮೀಪ 20 ದಿನಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದು, ಹತ್ತಾರು ಎಕರೆ ನೀಲಗಿರಿ ನೆಡುತೋಪು ಮತ್ತು ಕುರುಚಲು ಕಾಡು ನಾಶವಾಗಿತ್ತು.

Mysuru, Feb. 25- In an incident, suspected to be the handiwork of miscreants, fire destroyed hundreds of acres of forest atop Chamundi Hill here yesterday evening besides taking toll of lives of small animals and birds. The fire which was noticed at about 3 pm near Lalithadripura side soon engulfed large tracts of forest destroying trees, plants, small animals and birds. The entire area of the portion of the forest which caught fire was engulfed with thick smoke emanating from the fire causing tension among the residents there. K.R. Police Inspector Parashuramappa and staff who rushed to the spot on receiving information, tried to douse the fire with the help of local residents but in vain. Fire Brigade personnel, who rushed to the Hill along with five fire tenders, struggled to extinguish the fire which rose to about 20 ft. height and was spreading fast due to wind. Fire also broke out at about four to five spots atop the Hill simultaneously, which made the fire service personnel struggle to extinguish the fire. Meanwhile, people who had assembled at the spot were heard saying that this was for the first time that such huge fire had broke out atop the Hill. District Fire Officer Gururaj, Station Officer Raju including about 30 Fire Brigade personnel, RFOs Puttaraj and Satish, Guard Krishna, about 50 Forest staff, 30 Police personnel, local residents and others struggled for hours before extinguishing the fire at about 11 pm.

Forest area ravaged by Chamundi fire
The fire which broke out at Chamundi Hills on Tuesday evening has been completely doused but the damage to the local habitat is extensive.
Though it was estimated that about 40 acres of forest may have been ravaged in the fire, it is now reckoned that more than 150 acres of scrub forests have been scorched in the fire.
The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained but it is suspected to have been caused by miscreants carelessly throwing burning cigarettes or beedis or leaping flames from the burning garbage at the foothills.
Deputy Conservator of Forests, Karikalan told The Hindu that about 40 forest department staff assisted by a few volunteers from the local community managed to bring the fire under control by 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fire also broke out at about four to five spots atop the Hill simultaneously, which made the fire service personnel struggle to extinguish the fire. Meanwhile, people who had assembled at the spot were heard saying that this was for the first time that such huge fire had broke out atop the Hill. District Fire Officer Gururaj, Station Officer Raju including about 30 Fire Brigade personnel, RFOs Puttaraj and Satish, Guard Krishna, about 50 Forest staff, 30 Police personnel, local residents and others struggled for hours before extinguishing the fire at about 11 pm.

ಇಲ್ಲಿಯ ಆಳಂದ ರಸ್ತೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 33 ಜನ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ತಲಾ 4,500 ಲೀಟರ್‌ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯದ ಎರಡು ‘ವಾಟರ್‌ ಟೆಂಡರ್‌’ ವಾಹನಗಳಿವೆ. 16 ಸಾವಿರ ಲೀಟರ್‌ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯದ ದೊಡ್ಡ ವಾಹನ, ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಚಿಕ್ಕದಾದ ‘ತುರ್ತು ಸ್ಪಂದನ’ ವಾಹನವೂ ಇದೆ. ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಈಗ ಬೈಕ್ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಯಾಗಿದೆ.
ಬೈಕ್ ವಿಶೇಷತೆ: ರಾಯಲ್‌ ಎನ್‌ಫೀಲ್ಡ್‌ ಬೈಕ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ತಲಾ ಒಂಬತ್ತು ಲೀಟರ್‌ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಣಾ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯದ ಎರಡು ಅಗ್ನಿಶಮನ ಉಪಕರಣಗಳನ್ನು ಅಳವಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಒಂದು ಬದಿ ನೀರು ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಬದಿ ನೊರೆ (FOAM) ಹಾಗೂ ಅದರ ಪಕ್ಕ ಹೈಡ್ರಾಲಿಕ್‌ ಉಪಕರಣ ಇದೆ. ಹೈಡ್ರಾಲಿಕ್‌ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಿಲಿಂಡರ್‌ ಒಳಗಿನ ದ್ರಾವಣವನ್ನು ಹೊರಕ್ಕೆ ಚಿಮ್ಮಿಸಲು ನೆರವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಜತೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಪೆಟ್ಟಿಗೆ, ಸೈರನ್‌, ಧ್ವನಿವರ್ಧಕ, ಕೆಂಪು ದೀಪಗಳೂ ಇವೆ.
