Bengaluru::: Family of three injured in fire mishap

Three persons, including a one-and-a-half-year old boy, sustained burn injuries in a gas leakage which subsequently resulted in a fire mishap in a house at Rajendra Nagar in Adugodi on Wednesday morning.

The injured are Kumar (28), wife Kasthuri, and his one-and-a-half-year old son Mithun. While Kumar, who sustained 60 per cent burns, is said to be critical and is admitted in Victoria Hospital, Kasthuri and Mithun escaped with minor burn injuries.

According to the police, Kumar, a mechanic at a welding shop, was living with his wife and son at Rajendra Nagar. Preliminary enquiries by the Adugodi police reveal that on Tuesday night, Kasthuri forgot to switch off the regulator, following which gas leaked from the hose-pipe.

On Wednesday morning, around 4.30 a.m., Kumar woke up by his son’s crying and switched on the light which led to a spark and the curtain caught fire.

Neighbours rushed to the spot to rescue the family and alerted police who then rushed to the spot and shifted Kumar to Sanjay Hospital from where he was referred to Victoria Hospital.

Kasthuri received 10 per cent burns and was treated immediately, while Mithun received a burn injury on his hand and was treated at Sanjay Hospital.

A case is registered in Adugodi police station.
