Karwar: Safety drill held on National Disaster Reduction Day
Karwar: Fire & Emergency Services personnel, as part of National Disaster Reduction Day, demonstrated disaster management techniques at Maladevi ground in Karwar.
They told people how to manage the situation when some house is on fire or in case of a bomb explosion. They created awareness about the responsibility of the people in case of disasters, may be man-made or natural.
The personnel set up a hut on the ground and demonstrated how to bring the fire under control. It also demonstrated its preparedness in handling any eventuality. Home Guards, NCC, Scouts & Guides and students witnessed the drill.
Hundreds of others also gathered around the ground and witnessed the demonstration.
Prior to this exercise, a procession was taken out from the deputy commissioner office premises to Maladevi ground. Later, a programme was organised at the ground. Block Education Officer Shrikanth Hegde inaugurated the programme. Additional Superintendent of Police K T Devraju, District Fire Officer P Sukumar, Home Guards Commandant Ganesh Bishannavar and others were present.
