ಕಡೂರು: ಕಟಾವಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದ 4 ಎಕರೆ ಕಬ್ಬು ಬೆಳೆ ಆಕಸ್ಮಿಕವಾಗಿ ಬೆಂಕಿಗೆ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಭಸ್ಮವಾದ ಘಟನೆ ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ಬಿಳುವಾಲ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೋಮವಾರ ನಡೆದಿದೆ.

ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ 2 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಬಿಳುವಾಲದ ಕೃಷ್ಣಮೂರ್ತಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ 7 ಎಕರೆ ಜಮೀನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳೆದಿದ್ದ ಕಬ್ಬಿನ ಗದ್ದೆಗೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ತಗುಲಿದ್ದು,  ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ದಳಕ್ಕೆ ವಿಷಯ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

ಆ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಬಂದ ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ವಾಹನಗಳು ಬೆಂಕಿಯನ್ನು ಹತೋಟಿಗೆ ತಂದಿದ್ದು, ಅಷ್ಟು ಹೊತ್ತಿಗಾಗಲೇ ಸುಮಾರು 4 ಎಕರೆ ಕಬ್ಬು ಬೆಂಕಿಗೆ ಅಹುತಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.

ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಕಂದಾಯಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ಸತ್ಯನಾರಾಯಣ್ ಮತ್ತು ಕಸಬಾ ಕೃಷಿ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಲೋಕನಾಥ್ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿ ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಿದರು.

from special correspondent Bengaluru: A sudden fire broke out in a printing press by the name of Digital Imaging Inc situated near Mico Bosch in Adugodi late Friday night around 1-45 am (early Saturday morning). The building belongs to Jayam Reddy. The fire broke out in the second floor of the building. Fire brigades arrived and in an operation lasting almost two hours extinguished the fire. Bengaluru allows helipads atop 20 high-rise buildings, residential tower

 

BENGALURU: As Bengaluru's elite look skywards for a way out of the city's traffic congestion, 20 high-rise buildings, including 10 residential towers, have been given clearances to have helipads for commercial and personal use. 

Bengaluru currently has only one operational helipad on a high-rise, atop ITC Royal Gardenia, while Mumbai has four, the most famous of these atop Mukesh Ambani's residence Antilia. Delhi has no operational helipads. 

Golden Gate Residential at Yeshwanthpur, the city's tallest building with 49 floors, will soon have a helipad. Brigade EnterprisesBSE -1.62 % is in the process of opening its maiden helipad in the city atop its 32storey World Trade Centre at Malleshwaram. It plans to set up helipads on two of its residential projects as well. "Setting up helipads makes business sense as we have some premium clientele," said Roshin Mathew, president (engineering), Brigade Enterprises. 

As Bengaluru gains height to accommodate the hordes of people streaming in from across the country, more helipads will become a necessity . As per the fire safety norms for residential buildings, it is compulsory for any building above 60m or 18 floors to have a helipad for emergency lifting. "Helipads should be built above the terrace of the building, with fire prevention system extended to the helipad area," said NU Erappa, Deputy Director (fire prevention), Karnataka Fire & Emergency Services. 

According to Penta Consulting, an aviation consulting firm, Bengaluru is seeing an increase in the number of enquiries for setting up helipads as international corporate heads regularly charter whirlybirds to visit their Indian units. 

"Helipads not only add value to the building but get right clientele too. Every five years the population of helicopters doubles and it needs landing space. 

There is huge demand for charter services from government employees, corporate and business heads," said Subhash Bathe, director, Penta Consulting, which is currently working on four such projects.ITC Royal Gardenia's helipad service is a big hit with corporate leaders. 

The service is offered to its Peacock suite guests, who can directly land on the heliport and enter the suite through a special elevator. 

"We do not know how successful this business model will be, as take-off and landing time is equivalent to the time taken to reach the airport. Also, it costs over . 

`10,000 to fly from the city to the airport," said Sushil Mantri, managing director of Mantri Developers. The company's 46 storeyed residential tower on Bannerghatta Road will boast of a helipad and a sky lounge-cumcoffee shop on the 41st floor. 

The demand for helipads is also driven by emergency medical transfers. "Helicopters can be converted to air ambulances by replacing the seats with special equipment and medical facilities in a matter of 15 minutes. 

But the service, named Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) is yet to take off ," said Captain Irshad Ahmad, flight operation instructor, Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

A major fire that broke out near a unit of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) at the Kinfra industrial park at Seethangoli near here destroyed standing crops on over 400 acres.

Timely action by the Fire and Rescue Services prevented the fire from spreading to the HAL unit and the adjoining petrochemical unit of the Mangalore Refineries. Dry grass on a vast stretch of land and strong winds made the rescue operations difficult.

Assistant Station Officer K.V. Ashokan, who supervised the operations, told The Hindu that the fire might have been caused when someone casually lighted a fire on the grassland.

The fire destroyed coconut palms, vegetation, and cashew trees spread over 400 acres, in the sparsely populated area. The fire engulfed 50 acres vested with a temple in the locality. The fire was also reported at the nearby temple town of Ananthapuram but did not affect the temple.

Four fire tenders, comprising 32 members, devoted their energy to see that the fire did not spread to the HAL unit and the nearby refineries unit, which had a large stock of petroleum products.

Kundapur, Mar 3: Boats laden lorry catches fire, engulfs jute sacks warehouse

Kundapur Fire brigade vehicles rushed to the place soon after hearing the news and prevented further damage.

There are residential houses adjacent to the warehouse. The electric cable that got stuck to the muzzle of the boats had fallen on the warehouse making it to catch fire. The people in the nearby houses who were fast asleep were woken up with the feeling of heat, and rushed out of their houses waking up their neighbours after seeing the flames.

The fire had engulfed the warehouse of jute bags and was about to spread to the nearby houses when the fire brigade vehicles reached there in the nick of time. Kundapur PSI Nasir Hussain who arrived immediately and was present at the place took precautionary measures.

It is said that the warehouse belongs to local mill owner Nagesh Seregar. The driver of the lorry was not aware of the mishap and had driven the vehicle for some distance. The police have seized the lorry and registered a case.

ನಗರದ ಮಲೆನಾಡು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಗೃಹ ರಕ್ಷಕ ದಳ, ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ಮತ್ತು ತುರ್ತು ಸೇವೆ ಆಶ್ರಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೋಮವಾರ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ವಿಪತ್ತು ಕಡಿತಗೊಳಿಸುವ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆ ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.

ಇಂದು ಶಾಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಸಿಯೂಟದ ಅಡುಗೆ ಅನಿಲ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಪ್ರಯೋಗಾಲಯಗಳಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ವಿಪತ್ತು ಎದುರಾ­ದಾಗ ಅದನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ತಡೆಗಟ್ಟಬೇಕು ಎಂಬ ಮಾಹಿತಿಗಳನ್ನು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದೆ. ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ವಿಪತ್ತುಗಳ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಬೇಕು. ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ದಳ, ಆಂಬುಲೆನ್ಸ್, ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಗಳ ಸ್ಥಳ ಮತ್ತು ದೂರವಾಣಿ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಮನದಟ್ಟು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಸಲಹೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.

ನೆರೆ ಹಾವಳಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ವಿಪತ್ತುಗಳು ನಡೆದಾಗ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ಮತ್ತು ಗೃಹ ರಕ್ಷಕ ದಳದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸಬೇಕು. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಓದಿನ ಜತೆಗೆ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಅಗತ್ಯ ಎಂದರು.

ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 2009ರಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಪತ್ತು ಸಂಭವಿಸಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಜನತೆ ಸಂಕಷ್ಟ ಅನುಭವಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ವಿಪತ್ತು ನಿರ್ವಹಣಾ ಘಟಕಗಳು ಸಮರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ಮೆರೆದವು. ಆತ್ಮಸ್ಥೈರ್ಯದಿಂದ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ನಿಭಾಯಿಸುವ ಚಾಣಾಕ್ಷತನ, ಸುರಕ್ಷತೆ ಮಾರ್ಗೋಪಾಯಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸದಾ ವಿಪತ್ತು ನಿರ್ವಹಣ ತಂಡ­ಗಳು ಗಮನಹರಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಖೋತ್ಪನ್ನ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಸ್ಥಾವರಗಳಿವೆ. ಪವರ್ ಗ್ರಿಡ್‌ನಂಥ ಬೃಹತ್ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಉತ್ಪಾದನೆ ಮತ್ತು ವಿತರಣಾ ಜಾಲಗಳಿವೆ. ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ಅವಘಡ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದರೆ ತುರ್ತಾಗಿ ನಿಭಾಯಿಸಲು ಸದಾ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿರಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಇದೇ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ದಳ, ಗೃಹ ರಕ್ಷಕದ ದಳದ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಂದಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಾತ್ಯಕ್ಷಿಕೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.  ಜಿಲ್ಲಾಡಳಿತ ಕಚೇರಿಯಿಂದ ಜನಜಾಗೃತಿ ಜಾಥಾ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ದಳದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಮಂಜುನಾಥ, ಎನ್‌ಸಿಸಿ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಸುಬೇದಾರ ನಾಗೇಶ ಜಾಧವ್, ಡಾ.ಶ್ರೀಧರರೆಡ್ಡಿ, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಇಂದಿರಾ ಇದ್ದರು.

‘ಜಲಪ್ರಳಯ, ಸುನಾಮಿ, ಭೂಕಂಪ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿ ವಿಪತ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಯಂತ್ರಿಸುವುದು ತುಂಬಾ ಕಷ್ಟ. ಅವುಗಳಿಂದ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಆಸ್ತಿ–ಪಾಸ್ತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಜೀವಹಾನಿ ಆಗುವ ಸಂಭವ ಹೆಚ್ಚು. ನಂತರದ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯ ಪುನರ್‌ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಮಾಡುವಲ್ಲಿ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದ ನೆರವು ತುಂಬಾ ಅಗತ್ಯ’ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸಿದರು.

‘ಜಪಾನ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಭೂಕಂಪ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಣುಸ್ಥಾವರ ದುರಂತಗಳು ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದಾಗ, ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಜನರು ಎದೆಗುಂದದೇ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಸದುಪಯೋಗ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಹು ಬೇಗನೆ ಪುನರ್‌ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಿದರು’ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟಪಡಿಸಿದರು.

‘ಬೆಂಕಿ ಆಕಸ್ಮಿಕ, ರಸ್ತೆ ಅಪಘಾತ, ಮಳೆ ದುರಂತ ಇಂತಹ ಅವಘಡಗಳು ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದಾಗ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರ ಸಹಕಾರ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಂಘ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ನೆರವು ತುಂಬಾ ಅವಶ್ಯ. ಆದರೆ, ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಷಣ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಸೂಕ್ತ ತರಬೇತಿ ಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಲಾ –ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕವಾಗಿ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾದ ಕ್ರಮಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತರಬೇತಿ ಶಿಬಿರ ಆಯೋಜಿಸುವುದು ಶ್ಲಾಘನೀಯ ಕೆಲಸ’ ಎಂದರು.

ಎಸ್.ಎಸ್‌.ಇನ್‌ಸ್ಟಿಟ್ಯೂಟ್‌ ಆಫ್‌ ಮೆಡಿಕಲ್‌ ಸೈನ್ಸಸ್‌ನ ಉಪ ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ಡಾ.ಶಶಿಕಲಾ ಪಿ.ಕೃಷ್ಣಮೂರ್ತಿ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ‘ಆಕಸ್ಮಿಕ ಅವಘಡಗಳು ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದಾಗ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರು ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ಪರಿಹಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸುವ ಮನೋಭಾವವನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ಈ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು. ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿ ಅರಿಯಬೇಕು’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

A gift shop in Kanak Nagar was gutted on Tuesday due
to suspected electric short-circuit.
When the shop-owner opened the shop, he noticed the
fire and tried to douse it but later called the fire
control room at around 7.10 a.m. Motorcycle fire
fighters rushed to the spot and tried to put out the
fire.
But they had to call for reinforcement when the fire
began to rise.
The fire tenders came at around 8.50 a.m., one and
half hours later, and it took over an hour to douse the
fire.
The shop situated in Sultanpalya was three-storeyed
building. There were six houses on the first second
and third floor and the residents were evacuated to
safety by the people.

ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಬೇಸಿಗೆ ಆವರಿಸಿರುವ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮರದ ಎಲೆಗಳು ಉದುರಿದ್ದವು. ಈ ಎಲೆಗಳು ಉದರಿ ಹಲವು ದಿನಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದ ಕಾರಣ ಬಿಸಿಲಿಗೆ ಒಣಗಿದ್ದವು. ಈ ಎಲೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ತಗುಲಿರುವ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಹಚ್ಚ ಹಸಿರಾಗಿದ್ದ 250ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಶ್ರೀಗಂಧ ಗಿಡಗಳು ಬೆಂಕಿಗಾಹುತಿಯಾಗಿವೆ. ಘಟನೆಯು ಹಾಡಗಲೇ ನಡೆದಿದ್ದರೂ ಕೂಡ ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕಚೇರಿಯ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಯಾವುದೇ ರೀತಿಯ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳದೆ ಬೇಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯಿಂದ ವರ್ತಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

Minor fire in Guwahati Express at Nellore

A minor fire broke out in the general bogie of the Bangalore-Guwahati Express as the train reached the border of Nellore district here on Monday morning. The passengers immediately stopped the train and alerted the railway officials. The fire was caused due to short circuit.

Yadgir: Cotton mill catches fire - Rs 10 crore loss estimated

Yadgir, Mar 1: Reportedly, 15,000 quintals of cotton burnt down on Saturday February 28 after a cotton mill caught fire. The cotton agro industries, owned by Basavarajappa Sajjan Setti by the side of Shahapur-Yadgir highway, suddenly caught fire on Saturday afternoon. Reasons for the fire are unknown as yet.

The fire was first witnessed at 10.30 am. The fire brigade was called immediately. Fire tenders from Sahahpur failed to control the fire as they faced shortage of water. It is gathered that fire tenders from Yadgir reached the scene later and brought the fire under control after prolonged effort.

The loss in the incident has been estimated at ten crore rupees. The police have begun investigation into the incident.

ತೊಕ್ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಜಂಕ್ಷನ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ರೈಲ್ವೆ ಹಳಿ ಸಮೀಪ ಇದ್ದಂತಹ 13 ಅಂಗಡಿಗಳು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಸುಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದು, ಲಕ್ಷಾಂತರ ರೂಪಾಯಿ ನಷ್ಟ ಸಂಭವಿ­ಸಿದೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಮೊದಲು ಕೆ.ಸಿ.ರೋಡ್‌ ಸಮೀಪ ಎರಡು ತಂಡಗಳ ನಡುವಣ ಘರ್ಷಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂವರು ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಗಾಯ­ಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
