BENGALURU: A 30-year-old homemaker and her four-year-old son were burnt alive in their
Maruti Ritz car that mysteriously caught fire in the basement of their apartment complex late Friday afternoon in Whitefield area of
southeast Bengaluru .
Whitefield police said that Neha Varma and her son Param, both residents of a flat in the B-block in the apartment complex of
Sumadhura Apartment, came from outside and drove into the basement to park their car around 3.25 pm.

"We came to know that the duo had left their home around 12.30 pm. The security guards found the car going up in flames and rushed to the spot. They were unable to douse it and informed the fire and emergency services department. Police were also informed and they rushed to the scene. A fire tender reached the spot and doused the fire by 4 pm. The mother and son were found charred to death," police said.
