ಈ ಅವಘಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪಾರ ಮೌಲ್ಯದ ನ್ಯೂಸ್ಪ್ರಿಂಟ್ ಸುಟ್ಟುಹೋಗಿದ್ದು ಯಂತ್ರೋಪಕರಣಗಳಿಗೂ ಧಕ್ಕೆಯಾಗಿದೆ.ಯಾವುದೇ ರೀತಿಯ ಜೀವ ಹಾನಿಯಾಗಿಲ್ಲ . à²à²¦್ರಾವತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗದ ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ದಳದ 4 ವಾಹನಗಳು ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಂದಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿವೆ.
ದಿನಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳ ಮುದ್ರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬಳಸುವ ನ್ಯೂಸ್ ಪ್ರಿಂಟ್ ಕೊನೆ ಹಂತದ ಯಂತ್ರೋಪಕರಣಗಳಿರುವ 1 ಮತ್ತು 2ನೇ ಘಟಕದ ನೆಲ ಮಹಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಾತ್ರಿ 8 ಗಂಟೆ ಹೊತ್ತಿಗೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದೆ.ಬೆಂಕಿಅನಾಹುತಕ್ಕೆ ಶಾರ್ಟ್ ಸರ್ಕ್ಯೂಟ್ ಅಥವಾ ಯಂತ್ರದ ಬೇರಿಂಗ್ನಿಂದ ಹೊರ ಹೊಮ್ಮುವ ಕಿಡಿಗಳು ಯಂತ್ರದ ಕೆಳಗಿನ ಪುಡಿ ಪೇಪರ್ಗೆ ತಗುಲಿ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಹೊತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡಿರಬಹುದೆಂದು ಅಂದಾಜಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ನಿಖರ ಕಾರಣ ಇನ್ನೂ ತಿಳಿದುಬಂದಿಲ್ಲ.
ಬೆಂಕಿ ಕ್ಷಣ ಮಾತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡೂ ಘಟಕಗಳಿಗೆ ವ್ಯಾಪಿಸಿದೆ. ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಸಹ ಕಡಿತಗೊಂಡಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಆ à²ಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕತ್ತಲಾವರಿಸಿದೆ. 4 ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ವಾಹನಗಳ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಸತತವಾಗಿ ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಂದಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ರಾತ್ರಿ 10.30ರ ಹೊತ್ತಿಗೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಆದರೆ, ಘಟಕದೊಳಗಿಂದ ದಟ್ಟ ಹೊಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದು ಕತ್ತಲಾವರಿಸಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಒಳಗೆ ಹೋಗಲಾಗುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ.
ಕಾರ್ಖಾನೆಯ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಆಡಳಿತಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ಬಿ.ಎಂ.ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ್, ಕಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಸಂಘದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಚಂದ್ರಶೇಖರ್, ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಡಿ.ಕೆ.ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ್ ಮತ್ತಿತರರು ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು. à²à²¦್ರಾವತಿ: ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಸ್ವಾಮ್ಯದ ಮೈಸೂರು ಕಾಗದ ಕಾರ್ಖಾನೆಯ ಪೇಪರ್ ಮಿಲ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಅನಾಹುತ ಸಂà²à²µಿಸಿದ್ದು, 1 ಮತ್ತು 2 ರ ಬಿಟಿಪಿ ಸೆಲ್ಲರ್ನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕಾಗದ ಸುಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗಿದೆ. ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಂದಿಸಲು ಹೋದ ನೌಕರನೊಬ್ಬ ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಬೆಂಕಿ ಅನಾಹುತದಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 40 ಲಕ್ಷ ರೂ.ಗೂ ಅಧಿಕ ನಷ್ಟ ಉಂಟಾಗಿದೆ. ಮೈಸೂರು ಕಾಗದ ಕಾರ್ಖಾನೆಯ 1, 2ನೇ ಘಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಕಾಗದ ತಯಾರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ವೇಳೆ ಉತ್ಪತಿಯಾಗುವ ಅಗಾದ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ಅನುಪಯುಕ್ತ ಕಾಗದವನ್ನು ಬಿಟಿಪಿ ಸೆಲ್ಲರ್ನ ಶುದ್ಧಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಯಂತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಹಾಕದೆ ಹಾಗೇ ಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಯಂತ್ರದಿಂದ ಹಾರಿದ ಕಿಡಿಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ಅಗ್ನಿ ಆಕಸ್ಮಿಕ ಸಂà²à²µಿಸಿದೆ ಎನ್ನಲಾಗಿದೆ. 1ನೇ ಘಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಶೀಘ್ರವೇ 2ನೇ ಘಟಕಕ್ಕೂ ವ್ಯಾಪಿಸಿದೆ. ಇದರಿಂದಾಗಿ ಯಂತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಗದ ಉತ್ಪಾದನೆಗೆ ಅಳವಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದ 6 ಸ್ಕ್ರೀನ್ಗಳು, ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಕೇಬಲ್ಗಳು, ಫೆಲ್ಟ್ಗಳು ಸುಟ್ಟು ಕರಕಲಾಗಿವೆ. ಅಗ್ನಿ ಶಾಮಕ ದಳ ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಂದಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಪ್ರತಿà²à²Ÿà²¨ೆ: ತಿಂಗಳ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ 3ನೇ ಬಾರಿ ಅನಾಹುತ ಸಂà²à²µಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಗುತ್ತಿಗೆದಾರರ ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯವೇ ಕಾರಣ ಎಂದು ಆರೋಪಿಸಿ ನೌಕರರು ತಡ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಪ್ರತಿà²à²Ÿà²¨ೆ ನಡೆಸಿದರು.

The hot seat of power, Vidhana Soudha, is unlikely to receive a No Objection Certificate (NoC) from the Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services Department on account of lack of modern fire fighting equipment.
Since its construction, Vidhana Soudha has seen 20 chief ministers and numerous cabinet rank ministers. However, till date, none of them have been kept safe from a possible fire accident in the Secretariat.
No building above the height of 50 mts is allowed to be occupied without an NoC from the Fire Department. Vidhana Soudha is 67 mts in height.
The PWD had not initiated any safety measures barring hand-held fire extinguishers on each of the three occupied floors inside Vidhana Soudha. The Fire Department in 2003 had recommended to the Secretariat installation of manually operated electrical fire alarm systems with call points near each staircase, four wet riser-cum-down comer systems, one each near every staircase landing, and marking of escape routes to guide occupants to move freely in an emergency.
PWD officials, while admitting awareness about the recommendations, said that it was virtually impossible to modernise the fire safety measures in Vidhana Soudha due to certain constraints.
For example, the PWDhas been unable to install a wet riser-cum-down comer system on account of concerns about spoiling the aesthetics of the heritage structure. A wet riser needs to be installed from the outside of the building, attached to the structure on all the four sides of the construction. This might prove an ‘eyhand-hesore’ due to the red coloured pipes, said PWDofficials.
Officials dismiss the need for a Fire Department NOC, and contend that the wide corridors of Vidhana Soudha and the open space around the building is sufficient to deploy fire fighters and safeguard the occupants in case of emergencies.
But questions are being raised about the temporary wooden partitions within rooms and the massive paper trail, which could pose a hazard in case of fires.
The neighbouring Vikas Soudha is stated to be unsafe by the Fire Department on account of an extended basement area with steep ramps which cause hindrance to fire engines to enter and exit the building

July 31, 2014 23:18 IST Fire in KSRTC’s Volvo bus; none injured
A Volvo bus operated by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), caught fire on the Bangalore–Mysore highway near Gejjalagere on Thursday.
None of the 24 passengers was injured, the police said.
The ‘Airavat’ bus was heading to Mysore from Bangalore when it caught fire, M. Ramesh, Divisional Controller of KSRTC, Mandya, said. The incident occurred a few minutes after the bus crossed the Maddur bus-stand. The police said commuters in other vehicles coming behind the bus noticed sparks in its rear portion and alerted the driver. The driver stopped the bus and the passengers got off. The “minor fire” was doused by local people and the passengers before fire tenders reached the spot, the police said.
