A major fire broke out on a two-storeyed confectionary manufacturing unit due to cylinder blast in Netaji Nagar in KP Agrahara on Sunday evening.

Ten Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot and after three hours of operations, managed to put out the fire. Though the entire factory was gutted, no causalities were reported.

“The personnel could not reach the spot because the factory is located in a narrow by-lane. We had to join several hoses to pump water into the building,” a senior fire officer said. Investigations revealed that the fire broke out due to a gas cylinder leakage.
