Four killed as cars collide, catch fire RAMDURG (BELAGAVI DIST): MAY 12, 2014
Four persons, including a couple, were killed on the spot after the cars in which they were travelling collided head-on and caught fire on the Belagavi-Bagalkot state highway near K Chandargi village in Ramdurg taluk of Belagavi district on Monday.
Basavanagouda Tikanagouda Patil, 55, and Mallayya Adavayya Matapati, 33, both residents of Salahalli in Ramdurg taluk, were charred to death as they got stuck inside their Mahindra Verito car that caught fire following the collision. Badrinath Bhimrao Wadappi, 58, and his wife Suman, 55, residents of Saptapur in Dharwad, who were in Hyundai Santro were also killed on the spot, but the villagers managed to remove their bodies from the car before it caught fire, said police. Wadappi was the general manager of Vijayapur-Bagalkot Cooperative Milk Union.
Basavanagouda Patil and Mallayya Matapati were heading towards Markatti from their native while Badrinath and Suman were on their way to Lokapur from Yaragatti when the mishap occurred.

Two killed in wall collapse during rain MYSURU/SHIVAMOGGA, DHNS: MAY 12, 2015
Two persons were killed in Devalapura village of Mysuru taluk on Monday as a wall collapsed over them, following showers accompanied by heavy winds.
The deceased are Ravi (35) and Siddaraju (55). Another person, Mahadeva, was injured and is being treated at the hospital. The incident occurred near a poultry farm on the outskirts of the city, where the three had taken shelter near the wall during the rainfall. A case has been registered.
Pre-monsoon showers continued in parts of south interior Karnataka, with widespread rainfall reported in Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts.
In Shivamogga
Moderate-to-heavy rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong wind lashed several parts of the district on Monday evening.
Shivamogga, Thirthahalli, Hosanagar, Bhadravathi, some parts of Sagar, Shikaripur and Sorab received rain. Several roads in Shivamogga city were waterlogged due to the rain that lasted for nearly an hour.
Houses located in low-lying areas were waterlogged. The situation was similar in Thirthahalli. Other parts of the district received moderate rain.

ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳೆದ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಎರಡು ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ಕಡೆ ಅಗ್ನಿ ಅವಘಡ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದೆ. ಮೆಜೆಸ್ಟಿಕ್ ಬಳಿಯ ಕೆ.ಜಿ.ರಸ್ತೆಯ ಶಾಪಿಂಗ್ ಕಾಂಪ್ಲೆಕ್ಸ್ನ ನೆಲಮಹಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಬಟ್ಟೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಪಕ್ಕದ ಇತರೆ ಮಳಿಗೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಹಾನಿಯುಂಟಾಗಿದೆ.
ಘಟನೆಯಿಂದ ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಮಳಿಗೆಗಳೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಕೂಡ ಸುಟ್ಟು ಕರಕಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅಪಾರ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ಚಪ್ಪಲಿ, ಬಟ್ಟೆ ಇನ್ನಿತರೆ ವಸ್ತುಗಳು ನಾಶವಾಗಿವೆ. ಬೆಂಕಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಬಳಿಕವೇ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕಾಗಮಿಸಿದ 10ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ತಂಡಗಳು ಸುಮಾರು 2 ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಶ್ರಮಿಸಿ ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಂದಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾದವು.
ಇನ್ನು ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯಿಸಿರುವ ಪೊಲೀಸರು, ಕಾಂಪ್ಲೆಕ್ಸ್ನ ಹವಾನಿಯಂತ್ರಿತ ಡಕ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾರ್ಟ್ ಸರ್ಕ್ಯೂಟ್ ಆಗಿರುವುದೇ ಘಟನೆಗೆ ಕಾರಣ ಎಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಪ್ರಕರಣದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆ: ಉಪ್ಪಾರ ಪೇಟೆ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆ ಸಬ್ ಇನ್ಸ್ಪೆಕ್ಟರ್ ಹನುಮಂತರಾಯ ಅವರು ರಾತ್ರಿ ಗಸ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದರು. ಈ ವೇಳೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ತಗುಲಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡ ಅವರು, ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ಠಾಣೆಗೆ ಕರೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ತಕ್ಷಣವೇ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ ಅಗ್ನಿ ಶಾಮಕ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ, ನಂದಿಸಲು ಮುಂದಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಹತೋಟಿಗೆ ಬಾರದ ಕಾರಣ ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಅಗ್ನಿ ಶಾಮಕ ವಾಹನಗಳನ್ನು ತರಿಸಿ ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಂದಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಈ ಸಂಬಂಧ ನಗರದ ಉಪ್ಪಾರಪೇಟೆ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ತನಿಖೆ ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಅನಾಹುತ:
ನಗರದ ನಾಗರಭಾವಿಯ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿಗೆಪಾಳ್ಯ ಸಮೀಪ ಇರುವ ಗುಜರಿ ಅಂಗಡಿಗೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಬಿದ್ದ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಅಂಗಡಿಯ ಒಳ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಲಕ್ಷಾಂತರ ರೂ. ಮೌಲ್ಯದ ವಸ್ತುಗಳು ಬೆಂಕಿಗಾಹುತಿಯಾಗಿವೆ.
ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಗಂಟೆಗೂ ಅಧಿಕವಾಗಿ ನಂದಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿದ ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ, ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಂದಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊನೆಗೂ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿವೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅಂಗಡಿಯೊಳಗಿದ್ದ ಬಹುತೇಕ ಗುಜರಿ ವಸ್ತುಗಳು ಸುಟ್ಟು ಕರಕಲಾಗಿವೆ.
ಅಂಗಡಿಯು ನಗರದ ಗಣೇಶ್ ಎಂಬುವವರಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ್ದಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಗಲೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ರಾತ್ರಿ 9.30ಕ್ಕೆ ಅಂಗಡಿ ಬಾಗಿಲು ಹಾಕಿ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದೆ. ಊಟ ಮಾಡಿ ಕುಳಿತಿದ್ದಾಗ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಬಿದ್ದಿರುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಫೋನ್ ಬಂತು. ತಕ್ಷಣ ಬಂದು ಅಗ್ನಿಶಾಮಕ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗೆ ಕರೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಅವರು ಬಂದು ಬೆಂಕಿ ನಂದಿಸಿದರು ಎಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಇನ್ನು ನಗರದ ಕಾಮಾಕ್ಷಿಪಾಳ್ಯ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ತನಿಖೆ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.
